I led the creation of University of Maryland Global Campus, Time and Tuition Estimator to help prospective students and current students determine their estimated graduation date and cost based on their program of interest, tuition rate category, and a number of cost-saving factors.
BACKGROUND
Prospective student research showed cost is the main concern for getting a degree. Tuition, fees, and financial aid information are presented in various places on UMGC website but the complexity of factors makes it difficult to get a clear estimation.
PROCESS
I wrote use cases, conducted competitive studies and helped identify categories that determines students costs. I defined the required fields and created the wireframes mapping out in detail the user flow and UI specifications on web/tablet/mobile. I created a printer version of the results. I informed the tool placement and identified future enhancements that will generate a more specific rate.
